Ministry forms panel to study outsourcing frauds

After getting a lots of complaints, the government has formed a nine-member committee today to study foreign employment related frauds and irregularities.
A study team led by former National Planning Commission (NPC) member Dr Ganesh Gurung will suggest policy measures,” said joint-spokesperson of Ministry of Labour and Transport Management Krishna Hari Pushkar Karna.
The ministry called an emergency meeting of outsourcing agencies, line agencies and other stakeholders after Prime Minister Dr Babu Ram Bhattrai showed interest in the issue calling labour secretary Dr Ram Hari Arayal yesterday. “Prime Minister had ordered to end foreign employment related frauds at the earliest,” he said, adding that the ministry has got a letter from Prime Minister Office today.
The committee included representative from outsourcing agencies, joint-secretary of the ministry, directors of Department of Foreign Employment and Department of Immigration, deputy inspector general of Nepal Police serving in Tribhuvan International Airport and representative of NGOs working in the sector.
According to him, the committee will also explore role of the government.
