Minister Proposes 2% Hydropower IPO Quota for Security Personnel

Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha announced that legal procedures have begun to reserve a mandatory 2 percent share in upcoming hydropower IPOs for security personnel. Speaking at a House of Representatives meeting today, the Minister stated that this policy decision aims to recognize the continuous dedication and selfless service of security forces during national crisis management.

Minister Shrestha highlighted the high risks security personnel undertake in search and rescue operations across challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions. Reserving these shares is intended to provide them with direct ownership in the nation's energy sector as a mark of honor for their commitment to the country.

During his address, Minister Shrestha also commended agency workers and departments under his ministry for their coordinated response to the Bhote Koshi disaster. Emphasizing the need to learn from past damage, he directed subordinate authorities to strictly implement higher safety standards and use modern technology to build disaster-resilient energy infrastructure for the future.
