The government has appointed four new members to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), with the appointments taking effect following a ministerial decision by Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr. Bikram Timilsina on Thursday.

Under the decision, Chhetra Gopal Pradhan has been appointed as the NTA member representing the Accounts and Auditing sector, Ananta Mallik under the Technical and Administration sector, Nilam Kumar Ojha under the Legal sector, and Sujita Shrestha under the Market Management sector.

During the oath-taking and appointment ceremony, Minister Dr. Timilsina instructed the newly appointed members to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, transparency, and accountability, emphasizing that the country's interests and public welfare should remain at the core of their decision-making.

He noted that the NTA plays a crucial role in regulating, expanding, and modernizing Nepal's telecommunications sector, and urged the new members to contribute toward strengthening the institution and improving service delivery. The minister also stressed the need to accelerate the expansion of telecommunications networks, enhance public access to digital services, and promote the development of digital infrastructure across the country.

Warning against any actions contrary to institutional or public interests, Dr. Timilsina said the government would closely monitor the performance of the newly appointed officials and take necessary measures if expectations are not met.

The newly appointed members, meanwhile, pledged to perform their duties with honesty, professionalism, and transparency. They also expressed their commitment to safeguarding the institutional interests of the NTA through collective decision-making and effective regulatory oversight.
