Minister assures steps to find Rathi

BIRATNAGAR, JAN 21 -

Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadhar assured on Sunday that the government would take diplomatic initiatives to find out the whereabouts of industrialist Ganga Bishan Rathi, who has been out of contact for the last 10 days.

During his meeting with Rathi’s family members on Sunday, Gachhadhar suspected that Rathi might have been abducted and said the government would use its diplomatic channels for his safe release if he had been abducted.

Rathi, 69, had gone to Siliguri, India, on January 11 and went out of contact from the next day, according to his family members, who registered a complaint at the police on Friday.

Rathi has industries related to oil, rice and jute. He is the owner of Chandra Shiva Rice Mill, Ghailachhap Oil and wheat flour mills. Rathi is also the former president of the Morang Merchant Association and holds the post of chairman in about a dozen social organisations Meanwhile, local industrialists on Sunday requested Gachhadhar to take measures for the safe release of Rathi.
