Minister asks Rs 8bn to import fuel for five months

KATHMANDU, FEB 6: 

Four days after the PM’s pledge to ensure smooth supply of petroleum products, minister for commerce and supplies Lekh Raj Bhatta today once again lamented that the halt in smooth supply was due to the delay in releasing the loan from the government. In a programme organised here in the capital today, Bhatta said that the state oil monopoly cannot ease fuel supply unless the government releases Rs 8 billion.

“The Ministry of Commerce and Supplies has already tabled a proposal to the Council of Ministers to release Rs 8 billion loan to Nepal Oil Corporation for the smooth supply of fuel,” said minister Bhatta, adding that the fuel shortage will prolong if the government fails to release the amount.
