MetLife has joined hands with the Nepal Cancer Survivor's Society (NeCaSS) to provide comprehensive support to cancer survivors post-treatment. This collaboration aims to help 2,500 beneficiaries across several initiatives, from awareness programs to facilitating counseling support and promoting livelihood development.

At the heart of this partnership is MetLife’s financial support of over NRs 700,000 for NeCaSS, empowering the organization to conduct impactful cancer awareness programs at educational institutions in Kathmandu and Jhapa regions. These programs play a pivotal role in educating the younger generation about cancer, emphasizing early detection, preventive measures, and dispelling prevalent myths surrounding the disease.

MetLife’s support also extends to connecting survivors with doctors and medical professionals for counseling. By facilitating mental health consultations, survivors can receive the necessary emotional support and guidance to boost their morale, fostering a positive mindset crucial for their ongoing care.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by cancer survivors in rebuilding their lives post-treatment, the program includes support with livelihood development programs. These initiatives include comprehensive training in skills such as pickle and sweets making, traditional Nepali food preparation (selroti, arsa, anarasa, and khaja), and in-depth guidance on quality control and marketing. Empowering survivors with these skills will help them achieve economic independence and self-sustainability, marking a crucial step towards their holistic recovery.

The collaboration between MetLife and NeCaSS exemplifies a holistic approach to cancer support, addressing not only the medical dimensions but also the broader aspects of life post-treatment. This multifaceted initiative reflects a shared vision to create a positive impact on the lives of those affected by cancer, fostering a community where survivors can not only overcome the physical challenges but also thrive in their post-cancer journey.
