MetLife Nepal Partners with Jhapa Snakebite Center to Save Lives and Raise Awareness

MetLife Nepal has partnered with the Kankai Sahara Snakebite Treatment Center in Jhapa under its CSR initiative to combat the high risk of snakebites in the region, driven by rising temperatures and the district’s agricultural lifestyle. Snakebites are a major public health issue in Nepal, causing hundreds of deaths annually, especially in rural areas like Jhapa.

The initiative will focus on preventive education, timely medical response, and improved treatment access to reduce fatalities. MetLife will support awareness campaigns, promote preventive measures, and strengthen lifesaving treatment facilities. The Kankai Sahara Snakebite Treatment Center, established in 2016, operates 24/7 and offers specialized care, ICU services, and community education to address this critical health risk.
