More than 130 employee volunteers from MetLife Nepal have worked with Habitat for Humanity Nepal, to help rebuild an earthquake-affected community in Panchkhal, Kavre from February 12-14. MetLife Foundation funded this initiative.

The team of volunteers included MetLife’s Vice President and General Manager for Nepal, Nirmal Kajee Shrestha, along with the company’s Head of Operations for Nepal, Ram K Yadav. The volunteers worked alongside local community members to move bricks, soiling, and cut stone, in preparation to construct houses for the community.

“MetLife Nepal is honored to partner with Habitat for Humanity to support the people of Panchkhal in their rebuilding efforts. The activity allowed us to interact with the local community, work side-by-side with families, and listen to their stories and learn about their needs. Every day we strive to help millions of customers around the world protect their property, finances, family, and future. Our volunteer efforts are a natural extension of what we do,” said Mr. Shrestha.

One of the other volunteers, Ms. Goma Subedi from Finance stated, “I had been a part of the Habitat Build for the past 3 years and the energy and the motive to serve the people, help them build a house is the same. I hope we continue this noble cause in the future bringing smiles on the faces of the home owners. A house is where you have all the memories, so we want people to build these memories.”

MetLife Foundation has been a long time supporter of Habitat for Humanity in various countries across Asia. In 2019, more than 8,100 MetLife volunteers contributed over 25,000 hours across nine countries in Asia with multiple community organizations.
