Manpower agencies directed to receive amount through banking channel

KATHMANDU, Nov 9:

The International Affairs and Labor Committee under the Legislature-Parliament on Sunday directed the manpower agencies to receive the money from the aspirant migrant workers through banking system.

The committee directed this after lawmakers of the committee drew attention over taking more amounts from the recruiting agencies than the estimated cost and even for not providing receipt to the migrants.

The meeting also directed the Department of Foreign Employment to send the details of manpower agents, the agents deployed by manpower agencies, to the Committee.

Committee Chairman Prabhu Saha said the meeting directed the Department to control cheating cases that are increasing in the foreign employment, to encourage those filing complaints regarding cheating and to submit the progress details regularly to the Committee by ending the fraud cases.

The committee also asked the Department to submit the documents including licenses of manpower agencies, their agents, branches, details of workers send by them in foreign employment, and receipt received from workers to the committee.

Similarly, the committee also directed the bodies concerned to handover the dead bodies, which are in stranded in different countries, to the respective families after bringing them at home as soon as possible.

Secretary at the Ministry of Labor and Employment, Bhola Prasad Shivakoti, said a total of 800 cases of cheating were filed during first three months of the current fiscal year.
