Manchester City and Norway's Erling Braut Haaland secured the UEFA Men's Player of the Year 2023 title, triumphing over Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi. Haaland was presented with this prestigious award during a ceremony held in Monaco.

Haaland emerged as the top player of the year, surpassing Argentine player Lionel Messi and his own teammate Kevin De Bruyne. Haaland, who joined Manchester City just last season, achieved an impressive treble in his debut season, which included the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League titles.

During the course of the season, Haaland netted an astounding 62 goals in 62 appearances for both club and country. In his maiden Premier League season, he set a new record by scoring 36 goals, surpassing Mohamed Salah's previous single-season goal record. Additionally, he notched 12 goals in 11 matches in the Champions League.
