Man nabbed with illegal gold at TIA

KATHMANDU:

Police, on Sunday night, nabbed a person with the posession of gold illegally transported to Nepal from Dubai, at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

Bal Krishna Agrawal (40), a temporary resident of Bhotebahal-11, Kathmandu, was arrested from the pre-paid taxi counter on the premises of TIA with various gold jewelry. He had smuggled the jewelries out of the TIA terminal. However, noticing his suspicious behaviour at taxi counter, police had searched him again. He had hidden the jewelry at various parts of his body.

Among the confiscated jewelries are eight necklaces weighing 10 tolas each, two bracelets, and 38 other chains containing beads and pearls.

Agrawal, who hails from Ilam, had landed at the TIA from Dubai on a Fly Dubai flight at around 9:50 pm yesterday.

Investigations are underway, police said.
