Makwanpur Police Seize Illegally Imported Goods Worth Rs. 7.7 Million, Apprehend Suspect

Makwanpur Police Office made a significant seizure of illegally imported goods, estimated at Rs. 7.7 million, which were being smuggled from the southern border to evade taxes. The Area Police Office in Manahari intercepted the illicit goods along the East-West Highway in Manahari Rural Municipality-7, Makwanpur district, on Wednesday. Among the confiscated items were various branded clothing articles, mobile phone spare parts, new iPhones, and mobile phones of assorted brands, totaling 2,744 sets of clothing items.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Laxmi Bhandari reported that the seized goods lacked purchase bills. The interception occurred during a routine security check as the TATA vehicle with registration number BAD 4370 was en route from Lothar to Hetauda. During the inspection, police discovered 82 sets of mobile phones, including iPhones, without proper documentation.

Subsequently, police arrested the driver, Raj Kumar Chaudhary, 28, hailing from Triyuga Municipality-13, Udayapur. Chaudhary, along with the confiscated goods, was transferred to the Office of Revenue Investigation in Pathalaiya, Bara, for further investigation into the smuggling operation.
