Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Joins NEPALPAY Card Scheme to Boost Domestic Card Services

Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Limited has signed an agreement with Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL) to become a principal member of the National Card Switch and Domestic Card Scheme (NEPALPAY Card). The partnership will enable the bank to issue and acquire NEPALPAY Cards following the commercial rollout.

This initiative is part of Nepal’s effort to develop a central infrastructure for domestic card transactions, reduce reliance on international card systems, promote data localization, and enhance digital innovation. NCHL supports over 54 BFIs, multiple PSPs, PSOs, and technical members. Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank operates 103 branches and 49 ATMs nationwide.
