Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Introduces Nepal’s First Inter-Bank Scan2Cash Service and Cross-Border QR Payment for Tourists

Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Limited (MLBL) has launched Nepal’s first inter-bank Scan2Cash service in collaboration with Fonepay, allowing customers to withdraw cash by scanning a QR code at teller counters using any bank's mobile banking app. Initially available at the bank’s Durbarmarg and Thapathali branches, the service will be expanded nationwide.

This innovation aims to reduce dependency on cheques and ATM cards. Additionally, the bank has enabled cross-border QR payments through the Alipay+ network, allowing tourists from China, Singapore, South Korea, and other countries to make payments in Nepal using their home country's digital wallets via NEPALPAY QR. To further strengthen its digital services, the bank has also launched an upgraded mobile application named “Mahalaxmi Smart Sathi.”
