Madhya Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project Commences Commercial Operation

The 102 MW Madhya Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project, promoted by Madhya Bhotekoshi Hydropower Company Limited in Sindhupalchok District, has officially begun commercial electricity generation.

According to the company, the Commercial Operation Date (COD) has been set as Ashwin 20, 2082 (October 6, 2025) at 12:00 noon, as per the decision of the Coordination Committee comprising representatives from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and the company on Ashwin 29, 2082.

The project’s commercial generation has started in line with the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed between Madhya Bhotekoshi Hydropower Company Limited and NEA. With this, the electricity generated by the project will now be supplied to the national grid under the agreed purchase terms.

The company expressed that the commencement of commercial production marks a significant milestone in contributing to Nepal’s growing hydropower capacity and energy supply stability.
