Sharesansar, 24th August:

This week the capital market of Nepal, Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) started its week in declining note as the index in the initial trading day lost 2.59 points. And in the following days despite the market index increased for three consecutive days, the benchmark index couldn’t overcome the lost that it suffered in opening day. Overall, the local bourse was 0.73 points below the previous week’s closing level of 398.26 to close at 397.53 mark.

The market hasn’t had that much of movement in spite of the publication of Banking and Financial Institutions financial report. Despite the growth in the overall Commercial Banks profit than previous year, the impact was not seen in the scrips of these companies in the stock market. The scrips of the companies like ADBL,NABIL, NIBL,SCB and EBL which are the top five highest profit earning companies for the fiscal year 2068/69, decline than the previous week’s closing.  The price of these companies lost Rs 5, Rs 4, Rs 6, Rs 76 and Rs 12 to close at Rs 165, Rs 1465, Rs 534, Rs 1780 and Rs 1050 respectively.

With the Nepal Rastra Bank directive to Commercial Bank to increase their capital to Rs 2billion, the EPS of these companies has decreased which will eventually affect the dividend distribution of these companies. So, it seems because of this reason the market sentiment hasn’t gone up despite the growth in the Commercial banks profit.
