Load-shedding won’t go beyond 12 hrs: NEA

Nepal Electricity Authority ( NEA ) has said the load-shedding will not go beyond 12 hours a day this year.

At a press meet here on Tuesday, NEA said there is enough water in Kulekhani and additional requirement will be fulfilled by electricity imported from India. “We are doing necessary homework to make load-shedding stable,” said NEA Managing Director Arjun Karki.

Currently, the country is facing 11.5 hours of daily power outage.

Kulekhani is the only reservoir-type hydropower project. The water stocked in the dam during rainy season is utilised in the dry season.

Karki also said the NEA is planning to import 40MW electricity from India. Since the transmission line from Kataiya Kusaha comprises of high quality cable, the importing process will be easier.
