Last Trading Day of current Fiscal Year closes on positive note; NEPSE at 1,362.34 after 14.90 points incline with massive Rs 116 crore turnover

NEPSE closed at 1,362.34 today after gaining 14.90 points from yesterday's close. This concludes the last trading day for the fiscal year 2076/ 77.

Most importantly, NEPSE successfully crossed the 1350 - 1360 level today which technical analysts had long established as the resistance level. Now, this level has been established as support and 1460 as the new ceiling/ resistance.

The previous 1350 - 1360 resistance had been crossed on numerous instances during intraday hours but the market overall had failed to close above it. While NEPSE had reached 1366 at one instance after the lockdown the market had quickly retaliated to 1256 levels in latter sessions.

Today's breakout has further been strengthened by the fact that the turnover today was the highest for this week.

The breakout in the last trading day for this fiscal year is a joyous occasion for many. Investors are likely to enter the market with new enthusiasm on the first trading day of the fiscal year 2077/ 78 tomorrow.

The first trading day of a fiscal year is observed with special attention and enthusiasm by many traders. NEPSE had closed at 1259.01 levels at the last trading day of the fiscal year 2075/ 76. Below is the Nepse Index closing levels of last 20 years. 

Today's close is a positive 1.11% uptick from yesterday's session. Overall 19.94 points volatility was witnessed in the trading today, wherein the highest level was 1,367.82 and the lowest was 1,347.88.

Interestingly, the open was the entire day's low point. The market only went up from that level today, reaching the high at 1: 25 pm and ultimately closing at 1,362.34.

A total of 3,212,924 shares exchanged hands amounting to Rs. 1,160,491,522 in the turnover amount. This is a noticeably large amount compared to yesterday's total turnover of Rs. 994,545,109. 189 scrips were traded via 15,858 transactions.

NIC Asia Bank Limited (NICA) had the highest turnover of Rs. 10.40 crore closing at a market price of Rs. 553 per share. It is tailed by Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) in terms of total turnover with a figure of about Rs. 9.73 crore.

NMB Bank Limited had the highest number of shares that exchanged hands with a total of 217,337 shares.

Float is up by 1.21 points and is currently at 95.46. Similarly, the Sensitive Index is currently at 288.24 after gaining 4.06 points from the previous close.

Two companies, NIC Asia Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (NICLBSL) and Best Finance Company Limited (BFC) hit a positive circuit today.

On the other hand, Mithila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (MLBBL) lost the most 5.45% while closing at Rs. 815 LTP.

8 sectors gained today while 4 others ended red. Banking gained the most 2.16% and Hotels lost the most 3%.
