LAST MINUTE INCREASE IN NTC SUSTAINS NEPSE

Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) today incremented by 0.41 points to close at 530.24 levels. Though the local bourse made the high of 532, the selling pressure in the scrip of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) and other blue chip companies pulled the market index down to the level of 527. However, the boost in the level of NTC from Rs 650 to Rs 657 in the last minutes of the trade helped to sustain the Nepse in green pasture today.

There were altogether trade of eight sectors; in which Insurance and Banking sectors surged by 8.96 and 3.57 points respectively. The jump in Insurance was mainly because of the increase in the price of Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC) by Rs 112. Whereas the soar in the value of Global IME Bank Limited (Global IME), Agricultural Development Bank Ltd (ADBL) and Everest Bank Ltd (EBL) by more than Rs 19 majorly contributed in Banking growth. The increase in the ADBL, closed at Rs 264, by Rs 24 or 10.00% was the highest gainer among the traded shares today.

While, Hydro suffered the most loss as it dropped by 8.08 points. Under this sector, all the three scrips traded plummeted than prior trading day’s closing level i.e Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) dropped by Rs2, Rs 5 and Rs 9 respectively. Likewise, Finance and Others followed with the decline of 4.13 and 5.87 points respectively.

Whereas Hotels and Development reduced by 0.37 and 0.53 points respectively. The tumble in the price of Nerude Laghubita Bikas Bank Limited (NLBBL) and Diprox Development Bank (DDBL) by Rs 75 and Rs 12 mainly pushed the sector in the red zone today. The fall in the price of NLBBL by 19.23% was the highest among the traded shares today; the main reason for plunge was the price adjustment by Nepse of 15% bonus share declared by the company. As for Manufacturing sector it remains intact at 874.13 levels.

Overall there were only 80 scrips traded among which 26 scrips increased, 12 remain intact and 42 scrips decreased. Machhachapuchhre Bank Ltd (MBL), closed at Rs 238, had the highest share traded with 26,316 units. In terms of highest turnover, Nepal SBI Bank Limited (SBI), closed at Rs 862, topped with 9,233 units worth Rs 7,945,673 via 38 transactions; in which Broker no 50 (Crystal Kanchanjungha Securities Pvt. Ltd.) was the most active Broker with 37.17% stand alone dealing of SBI, tallying, 3,427 units worth Rs 2,953,294 via 12 selling transactions.

The turnover today stood around Rs 90,951,043 and the numbers of shares traded totaled 249,371 units which were carried through 1,218 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the day tallied around Rs 510,827.14 million.
