Kathmandu, the bustling capital of Nepal, has earned the unfortunate distinction of being labeled as the world's most polluted city. Recent data from IQ AirVisual, a renowned authority on global air quality, reveals alarming levels of PM2.5 concentration, reaching a staggering 181 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m³) as of Tuesday at 9:00 AM.

This hazardous level of pollution categorizes Kathmandu's air quality as unhealthiest posing significant risks to public health. PM2.5, fine particulate matter measuring less than 2.5 micrometers in diameter, has exceeded the World Health Organization's annual air quality guideline value by a shocking 22.7 times. These microscopic particles, often a result of vehicle emissions, industrial activities, and biomass burning, present grave health concerns due to their ability to penetrate deep into the lungs and bloodstream.

The situation in Kathmandu underscores the urgent need for comprehensive measures to address air pollution and safeguard the well-being of its residents.
