The bodies of those who lost their lives in the Gen Z movement of September 8 were laid to rest on Tuesday through a mass funeral procession held in Kathmandu. The remains, which had been kept at the mortuary of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), were brought out for cremation after days of mourning.

Although some families had already received the remains of their loved ones earlier and conducted individual rites, the collective funeral was arranged for the remaining victims. The Lalitpur Metropolitan City facilitated the procession by providing vehicles to carry the bodies.

Within the Kathmandu Valley, the deceased were taken to Pashupati Aryaghat for cremation, while for those whose families reside outside the Valley, preparations were made to transport the bodies by helicopter so that final rites could be performed in their hometowns.

The ceremony stood as a poignant reminder of the lives lost during the demonstrations and marked a collective moment of grief for the nation.
