Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) intervened in an educational fair held at Bhrikutimandap, taking action against the Higher Institutions and Secondary Schools' Association Nepal (HISSAN). Metropolitan Police, in collaboration with education department officials, removed the stalls in response to the fair being conducted without proper authorization or completed procedures.
Rajunath Pandey, Chief of Police of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, stated that the stalls were closed down as HISSAN had enticed and coerced students and parents to enrol without providing any results. The Metropolitan Police's action was intended to prevent misleading practices.
The metropolis authorities argued that the HISSAN Mela, specifically targeting parents of students awaiting the results of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) and Class 12, had been organized without permission. Consequently, the stalls were removed, as it was deemed unauthorized to hold the fair before the results were announced.
Over 75 educational institutions had set up stalls at the fair, which was also organized by Kantipur Publication. The event was initially planned to run until Ashad 03.
