In the past month, commercial banks had dominated the turnover and most of the shares traded were those of banks. This is because people feel that the shares of commercial banks are the most reliable and profitable ones, hence the popularity among individual shareholders. To check the performance of banks in the past month on NEPSE, we have used the Stock Screener tool from SS Pro to accumulate the required data and compared listed commercial banks on the basis of change in the price of stock in the past month, high/low of the stock and volatility between them, turnover and volume. The table thus prepared is as follows:

From the table above it can be seen that except for Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) and Everest Bank (EBL), all the other banks have gained some percent ranging between 0.20% and 33.44%. The two banks lost 2.47% and 2.11% respectively last month. Although NIC Asia Bank (NICA) gained the most past month, high volatility can be seen in the prices. The least volatile was Civil Bank (CBL).
NMB Bank (NMB) was the most popular among the investors as it registered a turnover of Rs.65.41 Crore in one month through trade of 1.94 Million units of shares. The share prices of NMB increased by 11.08% in the stipulated time. The banking sector posted a turnover of Rs.4.84 Arba trading 17.4 Million units of shares in the given time period.
