JUMP in Turnover by 249%

Today the market saw an astounding incline its turnover by 249% to Rs 156,851,104.The incline in turnover came with the transaction of Machhachapuchhre Bank Limited Promotor Share (MBLPO), closed at Rs 100, worth Rs 109,361,600 of 1,093,616 units, which is the highest share traded and turnover for the day. Though the turnover of the secondary market increased by such a huge number, the level of the index decreased by 0.32 or 0.08% to 424.43 level.

In the first half hour of the trade, the local bourse was trading above the opening level but later the index came down by more than a point below the opening level. In spite of the Nepse two tries to cross the opening level in the later hour of the trade, the local bourse fall to cross the level The fall in the Banking, Hydro and Insurance by 0.91, 7.18 and 2.26 points respectively, mainly pulled the Nepse in red pasture.

The drop in the Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL) by Rs 17 mainly caused the Banking sector  to fall. Whereas in insurance, in spite of  Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC) climb by Rs 10, the skid in the level of Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) and Chilime Hydro Power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 4 and Rs 9 dragged the sector down. Likewise in Insurance, decrease in more than 60% of traded scrip caused the sector to decline.

The sectors that helped the Nepse to keep the fall to meager were Development, Finance and Other as all added 0.04, 0.13 and 2.35 points respectively. Under Development today, Tourism Dev. Bank Ltd. proposed 10% cash dividend to its shareholders. Similarly in Finance, Zenith Finance Ltd. (ZFL), closed at Rs 103, proposed to give 10.53% cash dividend to its share holder, the announcement helped the scrip to add Rs 5 in its tally.

Overall there were 98 scrips traded among which 39 scrips increased, 20 remain intact and 39 scrips decreased. The highest gainer among the scrip trading above par for the day was H & B Development Bank Ltd. (HBDL), closed at Rs  118, with Rs 8 or 7.27%. Whereas, Multipurpose Finance Co. Ltd. (MPFL), closed at Rs 110, was the Top Loser with Rs 12 or 9.84%.

In terms of highest share traded and turnover among the general shares, Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), closed at Rs 340, topped with 33,337 units worth Rs 10,881,452 via 74 transactions; in which Broker no 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 78.54% stand alone dealing of AHPC, totaling 26,288 units worth Rs 8546,952 via 31 transactions in which one was matching transaction of 31 units worth Rs 10,385.

Overall 1,275,566 units of shares were traded via 1,229 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 401,914.75 Millions.
