Tensions between Israel and Iran escalated further after Israel carried out renewed airstrikes on Iranian territory, following a series of missile attacks reportedly launched by Iran in response to earlier Israeli operations.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that its air force targeted military bases belonging to what it described as “Iran’s terrorist regime” in western and central Iran.
“Some time ago, the Israeli Air Force struck military bases of the Iranian regime in western and central Iran,” the IDF said in a statement.
However, the IDF did not provide detailed information regarding the exact locations or the extent of damage caused by the strikes.
Iran’s state television reported that multiple explosions were heard in Tehran, Tabriz, and Isfahan. Additional blasts were also reported near Karaj. According to local media, all incoming flights at Tehran’s international airport have been suspended “until further notice” following the missile-related incidents.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed ongoing military activity and warned of stronger retaliation if attacks continue.
In a statement, the IRGC said that if Israel repeats its “aggressive actions,” Iran’s response would escalate significantly and could include regional targets linked to both Israel and the United States.
Iran has accused Israel and the United States of failing to comply with a ceasefire agreement reportedly reached earlier in April. Iranian officials said repeated violations have undermined the truce and triggered renewed hostilities.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that some military strikes were carried out in response to Israeli actions in occupied Palestinian areas, claiming the ceasefire has not been effectively implemented since mid-April.
The recent escalation follows a broader pattern of tit-for-tat attacks involving Israel, Iran, and U.S. forces in the region. Iran reportedly responded to earlier U.S. strikes on its military positions by targeting American bases, while the United States has also conducted operations against Iranian-linked facilities.
Meanwhile, following Israeli strikes in southern areas of Beirut, pro-government demonstrations were reported in Tehran. Protesters were seen carrying Iranian and Hezbollah flags, expressing solidarity with the government.
Hezbollah, based in Lebanon and backed by Iran, remains a key regional ally in the broader conflict dynamics.
With both sides issuing strong warnings and continuing military operations, fears are growing that the confrontation could further expand across the region unless diplomatic efforts resume.
