SINDHULI, Jan 5: Minister for Industry Mahesh Basnet has said preparations were underway to celebrate ´Investment Year´ after promulgation of new constitution.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of Sindhuli Festival on Sunday, Minister Basnet said the government was doing needful preparations to celebrate ´Investment Year´ after promulgation of new constitution to attract more foreign investment into the country.

Saying that Nepal is now safe for investment, Minister Basnet said: “We are planning to celebrate investment year to encourage investors from across the world to put their money into different projects in Nepal."

He also appealed to one and all not to involve in activities like banda and strikes as they make negative impact on national economy. "Activities that hamper national economy should be discouraged," he added.

Criticizing political parties who are staging bandas and strikes despite their commitment not to involve in such activities, Basnet said people will now denounce political parties if they organize bandas and strikes.

He also assured people that the new constitution will be issued within the specified time. “In case we fail to promulgate new constitution on the given date, we will at least issue draft of the new constitution," he added.
