On Ashad 29, 2075 an interaction program was organized between Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) and Society of Economic Journalists of Nepal (SEJON) regarding the Capital market regulations and the recent developments and improvements of the same. The Chairman for the program was Dr. Rewat Bahadur Karki, Chairman of SEBON. Similarly, the program was attended by Mr Pushpa Raj Acharya, Chairman of SEJON along with economic journalists of various print and online Medias.
On the technical section of the program, presentations were made by 4 personalities from SEBON on following topics:
Supervision provisions and practice in Securities Market by Executive Director, Mr. Paristhanath Poudel
Securities and Commodities Market – legal provisions and practice by Director, Mr. Muktinath Shrestha
Compatible Regulation along with Book Building System and its practice in Securities Market by Director, Mr. Krishna Raj Pokhrel
Improvements in Securities and Commodities Market and Qualitative News Broadcast by Director, Dr. Nabaraj Adhikari
The technical session was followed by interaction program between the participants and organizers addressing the information gap between the board and journalist and finding out ways to alleviate it.
Given the fact that the capital market of Nepal is still infant, SEBON has realized the need of proper information dissemination system so that the investors and general public at large can get the information in un-manipulated manner with the true and fair view. In regards to the same SEBON and SEJON has also had interactions in the past so that all the issues can be directly addressed at one go.
Similarly, the Economic Journalists are the information intermediary for the Board and the public. However, in most condition it becomes difficult if the intermediary itself doesn't know about the topic s/he is supposed to write about. Thus in this program all the participants presented their issues ranging from the use of words to the availability of information from SEBON's personnel. All the issues presented were duly discussed and will hopefully be mitigated in the days to come.
