India–Nepal Launch Real-Time UPI–NPI Cross-Border Payment Linkage

NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) and Nepal Clearing House Ltd. (NCHL) have launched a new cross-border payment linkage between India’s UPI and Nepal’s NPI systems. This enables real-time, low-cost, and secure money transfers between the two countries, allowing users to send and receive funds using mobile numbers or UPI IDs instead of bank details.

Initially available through select banks, the service will expand further to improve accessibility. The initiative strengthens financial inclusion, reduces remittance costs, and enhances digital and economic ties between India and Nepal, aligning with global goals for efficient cross-border payments.
