INCREASE IN TRADING TIME BOOST THE NEPSE UP

Today also Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) suffered from the technical problem in their server as a result the market transaction time was extended by half an hour to 3:30 pm. Following the problem, the brokers had tough time processing the transactions in the market. Despite the setback, the local bourse today climbed by 3.47 points to close at 528.93 levels. The time extended by the Nepse today resulted in the fruitful outcome for the overall market as the market index that was suffering loss during the regular market ending time, the surge in the added time to close at the green pasture today.

The Hotels sector added the most points today as it climbed by hefty 40.53 points. The rise in the price of Soaltee Hotel Ltd. (SHL) by Rs 24 or 9.72% mainly pushed the sector up; the increment in the scrip was the highest among the traded shares today. Following Hotels, the Insurance sector also had a double digit growth as it inclined by 20.22 points. Under it, the ascendant in the price of Life Insurance Co. Nepal  (LICN), Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd.  (NLIC), Shikhar Insurance Co. Ltd.  (SICL), Asian Life Insurance Co. Limited  (ALICL) and National LifeInsu. Co. Ltd.  (NLICL) by Rs 86, Rs 19, Rs 12, Rs 11 and Rs 10 mainly supported in the sector’s increment.

Similarly,  Others and Banking were other two sectors which settled in the green pasture. Others added 7.05 points with help from Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) as it increased by Rs 6. Whereas, the soar in the price of Bank of Kathmandu (BOK), Prime Commercial Bank Limited (PRIME), Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), Nepal SBI Bank Limited (SBI) and Global IME Bank Limited (Global IME) mainly contributed in the jump of 2.37 points in Banking sector.

While, Finance and Development sector plummeted by 0.11 and 0.66 points. Under this sector,  after the successful merger between the Infrastructure Development Bank Limited (IDBL)  and  Swastik Merchant Finance Co. Ltd. (SMF), the operation of these companies commenced from today under the sticker “IDBL”. Following the merger process the transaction of these companies was halted by Nepse in the secondary market. As for Hydro sector it dropped by 1.59 points as the fall in the price of Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) by Rs 5 mainly pulled down the sector.
 
Overall there were only 76 scrips traded among which 38 scrips increased, 9 remain intact and 29 scrips decreased. The highest loser for the day was Nepal Bank Ltd. (NBL), closed at Rs 1050, with Rs 116 or 9.95%. In case of highest share traded, Janata Bank Nepal Ltd. (JBL), closed at Rs 175, topped with 21,655  units.

In terms of highest turnover, Nepal SBI Bank Limited (SBI), closed at Rs 835, topped with 10,682 units worth Rs 8,804,220 via 35 transactions; in which Broker no 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 26.32% stand alone dealing of SBI, tallying, 2,797 units worth Rs 2,317,489 via 7 transactions which includes 2 matching transactions totalling  1,888 units worth Rs 1,566,080.

The turnover today stood around Rs 87,246,598 which is higher by Rs 23,623,559 or 37.13% than yesterday and the numbers of shares traded also climbed as it totaled around 214,246 units which were carried through 1,218 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the day tallied around Rs 509,561.50 million.
