ICAN Held Oath Taking Ceremony of It's Newly Elected President and Vice-President

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) held the oath taking ceremony of its newly elected president and vice-president at Hotel Royal Tulip in Kathmandu. Auditor General Tovam Raya administered the oath of office and secrecy to CA Anand Raj Sharma Wagle, elected president for the 10th council's third term, while Wagle administered the oath to Vice-President Kafle. Both were elected in ICAN's polls held on Asar 32, 2083 BS.

Speaking at the event, President Wagle pledged to strengthen the credibility of the accounting and auditing profession, enhance the institute's organizational capacity, accelerate digital transformation, and prioritize members' professional development. Vice-President Kafle said his focus would be on professional codes of conduct, quality audits, capacity building for young chartered accountants, and expanding international collaboration. ICAN officials, members and various professional bodies congratulated the new leadership. Auditor General Raya also unveiled ICAN's official logo at the event.

Separately, ICAN felicitated students who represented Nepal at the South Asian Federation of Accountants' (SAFA) Quiz and Public Speaking Contest 2025, held in Bangladesh on Shrawan 2. Divash Adhikari and Sampanna Silwal were joint winners of the SAFA Quiz, while Rizan Thapa won the Public Speaking Contest and Kashyap Raj Shrestha was first runner-up.

ICAN is Nepal's regulatory body for chartered accountants, established under the Nepal Chartered Accountants Act, 1997. It regulates CAs and registered auditors, sets professional standards, and conducts examinations, training and professional development programs.
