The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) marked its 29th anniversary on January 31, 2026, with a high-level conference in Kathmandu focused on Global Accounting and Finance Outsourcing. The event highlighted the launch of the Global Accounting Initiative in Nepal (GAIN) Project, aiming to create 150,000 jobs over ten years and generate USD 6 billion in annual foreign currency earnings.

Speakers emphasized Nepal’s competitive advantages, including English proficiency, cost efficiency, and growing technical expertise in AI-driven accounting. The government pledged policy support through tax incentives, simplified forex processes, data protection, and overseas branch facilitation. ICAN also outlined a roadmap for integrating international accounting standards, launching specialized certifications, and enhancing financial transparency. The conference positioned Nepal as an emerging hub for high-value accounting and finance services, offering professional opportunities for youth and reducing migration.
