Hydro drags Nepse

The market sentiment drastically change today as the news of book closure of Chilime Hydro Power Co.(CHCL) on 25th September,2012 came into market. With the news it created a negative impact upon the performance of Hydro sector as the sub-indices came down by 36.19 or 4.14% points mainly contributing in the Nepse backtrack of 3.68 points. Today, the benchmark index came to close at 421.79 level.
The scrip of CHCL which first trade at high of Rs 1,200 later dropped to lowest of Rs 1,100 as the news of book closure came into light. Overall the scrip lost Rs 51 to close at Rs 1,134 along with it Butwal power also declined by Rs 35 to close at Rs 710. It was only yesterday the BOD of CHCL had proposed to give 30% bonus share and 20% cash dividend to its shareholders.Despite a heavy drop in CHCL, it still remained the highest in the category of turnover. Overall 17,176 units of CHCL were traded via 161 transaction amounting 19,433,184.
Other sub-indices that complemented in Nepse lost today were Banking, Development, Insurance and Others with 1.02%, 0.6%,0.35% and 0.17% respectively. Under the Banking, among the 25 scrips traded there were only two gainers. Similarly in Development, loss of 18 scrips outweighed the gain of 10 scrips. Among the loss scrips, Kamana Bikas Bank Ltd., closed at Rs 126, has proposed to give 15% cash dividend which failed to create a right kind of impact upon investors. Whereas in insurance, decline in Life Insurance Co. Nepal , Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. , National Life Insu. Co. Ltd. by Rs 13, Rs 12 and Rs 10 along with other three scrips drag the Insurance sector.
There were only two gainers in sub-indices today; they were Hotels and Finance by 0.87% and 0.06% respectively. In Hotels, all the scrips traded under it gained than previous closing price helping in its surge. Whereas in Finance, the improvement in the scrips of Citizen Investment Trust, International Leasing And Fin. Co., Narayani National Finance Co. Ltd. Unique Finance Limited and Nepal Finance Ltd. aided in its growth.
Overall there were 100 scrips traded among which 26 scrips increased, 20 remain intact and 54 scrips decreased. The highest loser for the day was Country Development Bank Ltd (CNDBL), closed at Rs 69, with Rs 4 or 6.76%. Whereas among the stock traded above par value, Union Finance Ltd. (UFCL), closed at Rs 102, was the Top Loser with Rs 6 or 5.56%. Similarly, Diprox Development Bank (AHPC), closed at Rs 344, was the Top Gainer with Rs 18 or 5.52%.In case of highest traded share among the ordinary stock, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBBL), closed at Rs 162, topped with 25128 units.
The total turnover today was 94,761,479 which is comparatively Rs 10,433,493 or 9.92% lower than prior trading session. Overall 349,125 units of shares were traded via 1,483 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 399,147.89 Millions.
