Humla DDC proposes budget of Rs 1.51b for this fiscal

The Humla District Development Committee (DDC) has proposed the government for budget of Rs 1.51 billion for fiscal year 2013-14.

In his proposal, Local Development Officer Naresh Prashad Dhakal said the proposed budget includes Rs 101.3 million for land and water resources committee; Rs 269.5 million for organization and structure committee; Rs 15.1 million for tourism development and Rs 31.7 million for children-friendly local governance.

The proposed budget also includes Rs 474.9 million and Rs 132.7 million for the DDC’s capital and current expenditure, respectively. Other proposed budget allocations include Rs 103.9 million under government and Rs 47.6 under non-government budget and Rs 409,000 for other institutions.

The DDC has given first priority to the construction of Hilsha-Simkot-Kawadi road in its budget proposal. Other major policies and programmes include implementing the policy of one-village-one-cooperative, making the district free from open toilets by 2017, initiating development work under the theme of “Hamro Humla , Ramro Humla ”.  

Other plans in the budget are increasing agriculture production in the lower part and promoting livestock farming and herbs production in the upper part of the district, and encouraging marginalised groups.
