House to pass budget on Sept 18

Political parties in the Constituent Assembly on Wednesday agreed to pass the fiscal budget for 2011/12, presented by the Jhala Nath Khanal-led government, on September 18. It became possible to pass the fiscal budget after the ruling parties — UCPN-M and Madhes-based parties — agreed to it in the event that Parliament has already passed the vote-on-account Bill and completed discussions on the bill. The Business Advisory Committee, which is represented by all the parties in Parliament, agreed to cut short the duration of debate on the appropriation bill and pass it on September 18, according to Speaker Subas Nembang. The Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, which are now in the opposition bench, said they would cooperate with the government to pass the fiscal budget estimates.
