Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has directed the local administration and concerned authorities to immediately clear the encroached land belonging to Koshi Hospital in Biratnagar, ordering the demolition of all illegal structures built on the government-owned property.

The directive came during a surprise inspection of the hospital on Sunday evening, where Minister Gurung assessed the situation following reports from various social organizations alleging that portions of the hospital's land had been illegally occupied and developed for commercial leasing purposes.

Minister for Health and Food Safety Nisha Mehta accompanied the Home Minister during the inspection.

Addressing officials on-site, Minister Gurung instructed the district administration and security agencies to take prompt action against the encroachment, stressing that public and government land must be protected.

"No one will be spared for illegally occupying public land. Encroaching upon government property is against the law, and appropriate action will be taken against those responsible," Minister Gurung said.

He further assured that the local administration and security bodies would be fully mobilized to remove the illegal structures and restore the hospital's land.

The inspection follows the expiration of a 15-day ultimatum previously issued by the Koshi Hospital administration, which had ordered occupants to vacate and dismantle structures built on the encroached land. However, despite the deadline, the illegal constructions remained in place.

Speaking on the occasion, Health and Food Safety Minister Nisha Mehta described the continued occupation of the hospital land as unfortunate, noting that the encroachers had failed to comply with the hospital's notice.

She pledged that the illegally constructed structures would be cleared within a week, emphasizing the government's commitment to safeguarding public health infrastructure and preventing the misuse of state property.

The government has indicated that coordinated efforts between the local administration, security agencies, and hospital authorities will be launched immediately to reclaim the hospital's land and ensure that it is used solely for public healthcare services.
