Hike in Interest Rate Slams NEPSE Down 3.59%, Index Takes Triple-Digit Hit

The NEPSE index closed at 2,700.89 today after losing a massive 100.67 points from last week's closing. This is a loss of 3.59% on the index. The index had lost 11.96 points last Thursday.
The index opened at 2,783.89 today and immediately went on a pessimistic mood, without trading any higher. While it went as low as 2,697.68, it ultimately closed at 2,700.89.
227 scrips traded hands via 81,837 transactions. Furthermore, a total of 11,661,639 shares exchanged hands amounting to Rs. 5.977 Arba in the turnover amount. This is higher than last Thursday's turnover of Rs. 3.829 Arba.
Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Ltd (UPPER) had the highest turnover of Rs. 32.84 crores closing at a market price of Rs. 646 per share. The shares of Nepal Infrastructure Bank Limited (NIFRA) were traded the most.
NIBL Samriddhi Fund -2 (NIBSF2) gained the highest, but still an insignificant 1.94%.
Meanwhile, Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Ltd (UPPER) has lost the highest 8.37%.
All sector indices closed red today. Hydropower lost the highest 5.47%.
