Govt banks to be equipped with internet

KATHMANDU,JAN 30: 

Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has said Electronic Banking Directory has been prepared to move ahead banking services swiftly by linking it with internet.

He made this remark while inaugurating the 12th ICT Conference jointly organised today by the Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) and the Internet Society Nepal Chapter with the main slogan 'internet for all'.

He also suggested that ICT should help as the backup in the banking system of Nepal is not strong.

We can bring improvement in Nepal's economy if the agriculture sector is linked with IT, he said, and pointed out the need to stress on how to reach internet to the rural areas.

Cyber law expert of Britain Dr. Shubhajit Basu said government services can be taken to the people swiftly by localizing internet.

Science and Technology Ministry Secretary Tana Gautam pointed out the need to increase investment in IT, and expressed the determination to reach internet to all the VDCs of the country.

Rakshit Tandan working in internet of India said the generation taking mobiles in hand have been extensively using internet.

CAN Chairman Suresh Kumar Karn said the conference was organised to give information to all about the merits and demerits of internet.
