Governor calls for investment in agriculture‚ service sectors

The financial condition of the country can be improved if the private sector increases investments in agricultural and service sectors, said governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank, Yuva Raj Khatiwada.

Addressing a programme here on Saturday, he said imports, profit-oriented, and dependant industries alone could not improve the nation's financial development. He stressed on the need for heavy investment in physical infrastructure to improve the national economy.

He expressed his confidence that the industries and trades based on agricultural processing can contribute to the sustainable economic progress and cooperative policy is beneficial to help such development.

He urged the banks and financial institutions not to discourage by fixing low interest rates to the depositors and urged to move ahead by taking balanced profit and loan imbursement policy.

During the programme, central member of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Keshav Pandey, Chief District Officer Suresh Adhikari and others stressed for encouraging private sector for the sustainable development in the country.
