Once again, the government is gearing up to host subsidized markets in preparation for the main festivals of the year.

According to the Food Management & Trading Company Limited (FMTC), all necessary budgetary preparations have been completed to facilitate the operation of concession shops targeting major festivals such as Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath. These shops will offer discounts on popular meat varieties like Khasi, Boka, and Changra specifically for the Dashain festival.

This year, a substantial intervention is planned in the Dashain meat market, with the purchase of 3,000 goats and chickens. The allocation for this initiative amounts to a total budget of 833 million rupees, covering the purchase of 2,000 goats and goats, and 1,000 chickens.

The company's proposed budget will be submitted to the ministry in the coming days, and a decision will be reached shortly thereafter. As in previous years, a proposal for the coordinated operation of integrated subsidized markets throughout the country, involving entities like Salt Trading and the Dairy Development Institute, will also be submitted to the Ministry.

According to the company, essential food items will be available at discounted prices in these stores. Additionally, food stores will be set up in 39 locations across 40 districts outside the valley.

Salt Trading has also announced its intentions to establish concession shops in 38 locations nationwide, both collaboratively and independently. The operational timeline for these shops will be decided by the Council of Ministers based on the proposal from the Ministry of Industry.
