The government has significantly trimmed the number of security personnel assigned to two former prime ministers, citing that they had been receiving protection beyond the prescribed standard.

The Ministry of Home Affairs decided to withdraw a total of 61 security personnel—27 from KP Sharma Oli’s security team and 34 from Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s.

According to ministry officials, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal made the decision at the ministerial level after a review concluded that both leaders were being provided with more security personnel than officially authorized.

The move is part of the ministry’s effort to streamline security arrangements and ensure that resources are allocated in line with government standards.
