Government Pushes Promotion of Indigenous Dairy Products, Focuses on Expanding DDC Market
The government has stepped up efforts to promote indigenous products as a matter of national pride, with a particular focus on expanding the market reach of products manufactured by the government-owned Dairy Development Corporation (DDC).
During a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, ministers held detailed discussions on measures to strengthen the nationwide promotion, consumption, and market expansion of DDC products.
Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary raised the issue as a key agenda item, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing DDC products to protect domestic dairy production, safeguard farmers’ interests, and enhance the institutional capacity of the corporation.
She stressed that greater coordination among government agencies is essential to transform DDC into a more competitive, quality-oriented, and self-reliant organization.
Minister Chaudhary also highlighted the need for effective management of milk collected from dairy farmers across the country and called for continued government support to ensure a sustainable market for dairy products.
According to officials, the discussions reflected the government's broader commitment to promoting locally produced goods, strengthening agricultural value chains, and supporting the livelihoods of dairy farmers while enhancing the performance of state-owned enterprises.
