Government Forms Talks Committee to Negotiate with Microfinance Victims

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has formed a government committee to engage in formal negotiations with protesting microfinance victims. The decision was made through a ministerial level ruling, with Minister Wagle issuing immediate instructions for the newly appointed panel to initiate dialogue with the protesters today.

The negotiation team is led by Mahesh Acharya, a Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance. The panel comprises key officials from relevant state institutions, including Joint Secretary Binod Kumar Bhattarai from the Ministry of Law, Joint Secretary Suresh Panthi from the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Executive Director Ramu Paudel from Nepal Rastra Bank. Bolaraj Acharya, an Under Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, serves as the committee's member secretary.

The committee is convening its inaugural meeting at the Ministry of Finance to map out the negotiation framework. Immediately following the preliminary meeting, the panel is scheduled to begin direct discussions with the representatives of the microfinance victims today.
