Government Declares Public Holiday on Mangsir 4 and 5 Due to Upcoming Elections
The government has decided to declare a public holiday in the schools that house the polling stations for the upcoming elections from Mangsir 2 to Mangsir 5.
The Ministry of Home Affairs reports that a 2-day holiday has been granted for elections in other areas as well. Likewise, on Mangsir 4 and Mangsir 5, public and governmental offices will be closed.
On Mangsir 4, Nepal will have general elections to choose the 275 members of the House of Representatives. The election will feature two ballots: one to elect 165 members from single-member constituencies using the plurality voting method (FPTP), and the other to elect the remaining 110 members from a single nationwide constituency using the party-list proportional representation method.
