Government Announces Free Treatment for Bhotekoshi Flood Victims

The government has decided to provide free medical treatment to people injured in the Bhotekoshi flood.

Government spokesperson and Education Minister Sasmita Pokhrel announced the decision while briefing the media on the decisions of the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.

According to Minister Pokhrel, the Ministry of Health, Nepal Army and government hospitals have been instructed to arrange free medical treatment for those injured in the disaster.

The Cabinet has also directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to immediately rescue injured and stranded people and relocate them to safe locations. Nepal Army and private-sector helicopters will be mobilized for the rescue operation.

The government has instructed the Home Minister to use all available resources, including helicopters, to accelerate search and rescue efforts.

The government has decided to make arrangements for people who have lost their homes through the Ministry of Home Affairs, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, and the relevant disaster management committees.

The Cabinet has also directed the concerned ministries to restore roads and drinking water services disrupted by the floods.

Similarly, the Ministry of Energy and the Nepal Electricity Authority will work to restore electricity supply in the affected areas.

The government has further decided to provide compensation, in accordance with existing laws, to the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster.
