Gold hits Rs 44‚550 per tola

The precious metal was priced today at Rs 44,550 for a tola (11.664 grams) in the domestic market. Soaring international price due to uncertainty over ongoing US deficit debate along with intensely spreading debt worries of EU pushed the domestic price up. The international debt crisis has pushed the gold prices over $1,600 for an ounce in the international commodities market as investors and central banks are purchasing the yellow metal to hedge any forthcoming economic crisis. The silver price has also reached Rs 1,130 for a tola on Tuesday.
