Global IME Bank has inaugurated Nepal’s first Non-Resident and Overseas Banking Division (NROBD), a dedicated department aimed at providing comprehensive banking services to Nepali citizens living abroad. The division was officially launched on Thursday at the bank’s corporate office in Naxal, Kathmandu, by Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Chairman of the bank and President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

The newly established department will provide a wide range of services, including account opening, credit processing, transaction banking, capital market services, and portfolio management. Nepalis residing abroad will be able to access these services through phone, email, international offices, bank representatives, and the NROBD office in Kathmandu. The bank also plans to expand the service into a 24-hour banking support system in the future.

According to Chairman Dhakal, Nepali citizens working or living overseas play an important role in the country’s development. He expressed confidence that the new division would strengthen their connection with Nepal by providing convenient and reliable banking services tailored to their needs.

Chief Executive Officer Surendra Raj Regmi said the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting the Nepali diaspora not only as a remittance partner but also as a full-fledged financial institution that helps manage their investments and financial needs in Nepal.

Since its establishment in 2007, Global IME Bank has focused on serving migrant workers and overseas Nepalis through an extensive remittance network, international banking partnerships, overseas representative offices in the United Kingdom, Australia, and India, as well as representatives in ten countries.

The bank has also received several international recognitions, including the Euromoney Award for Excellence 2024 and the Global Finance Best Bank Award 2024. Currently, Global IME Bank operates around 1,000 service centres, including 352 branches, 379 ATMs, 147 branchless banking units, and several extension and revenue collection counters across Nepal.
