French biz delegation meets FM Mahat

KATHMANDU, APR 23 - A French business delegation met Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat on Tuesday.

The delegation, comprising representatives of French companies, is on a two-day Nepal visit to explore trade and investment opportunities in the country.

Led by Jean-René Cougard, head of Regional Economic Service at the French Embassy in New Delhi, the team was mostly comprised of French companies involved in the infrastructure sector.

The delegation includes representatives of 12 New Delhi-based French companies—Alstom T&D, Accor, Alstom Power India, Dassault Système India, Egis India, Lumiplan ITS India, Morpho, Suez Enviornment India, Sunflower India/Total, Systra and Veolia Transport.

Among them, the Alstom T&D India is a market leader in the Indian power transmission sector with over 100 years of expertise in building the transmission infrastructure for the country. And, POMA is one of the global leaders in the construction of ropeway transportations systems.

Accor is the world’s leading hotel operator with presence in 92 countries. Dassault Systèmes India provides business and people with virtual universes to imagine sustainable innovations.

Egis Group is a French engineering group with nearly 50 years of international experience in specialty engineering and management consultancy services.  

Lumilan ITS India provides innovative IT solutions for public transport organizations and large scale information systems for cities and public spaces. Morpho is a high technology company in the Safran group. It is market leader in security solutions .

Systra is a specialist in planning, engineering, desi-gn, program management and construction management for transportation systems and their associated facilities.  

During their visit, the delegation also met Investment Board Nepal CEO Radhesh Pant, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry President Pradeep Jung Pandey and top government officials.
