Former king Gyanendra pays tribute to Prithvi Narayan Shah, unifier of modern Nepal

Former King Gyanendra Shah today visited the outskirt of the main administrative center Singha Durbar to pay tribute to the late Prithvi Narayan Shah, the unifier of modern Nepal.

On the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of the unifier of modern Nepal, the ex-king laid a wreath at the late King's statue located at the western entrance to Singha Durbar. 

The supporters of the ex-king who had already gathered at the site for the celebrations of the birth anniversary of the nation builder offered him a warm welcome.

Similarly, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) chair Rajendra Lingden and cine artist Manisha Koirala were among those who reached the site to pay tribute to the late Shah.

Representatives from the World Hindu Federation, International Shreekrishna Bhawanamrit Sangh, and Yogi Naraharinath Spiritual Council were there with the institutional banners to join the celebrations.

Prithvi Narayan Shah (1723–1775) who ascended the throne of Gorkha on 25th Chait 1799 BS, had unified the state divided into 52 small principalities. He established the capital of the unified country in Kathmandu itself after conquering the three kingdoms of the Kathmandu valley in 1826 BS.
