KATHMANDU, MAR 21:

Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) will celebrate the ‘Industry and Commerce Day 2068’ on April 10 across the five development regions this year.

“The ‘Industry and Commerce Day’ will not be centralised to Kathmandu only but will also be celebrated in all the five development regions this year,” said senior vice president of FNCCI Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar.

Similarly, the umbrella organisation of the domestic private sector will organise its 46th annual general meeting (AGM) on April 6 in Kathmandu. “The main agenda of this year’s annual meeting will be investment promotion and employment opportunities,” he said, adding that the meeting will summarise various activities of the federation during the past one year and will also chart out the future course.

Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai is scheduled to inaugurate the AGM, where president of the Confederation of Indian Industry B Muthuraman will be a guest speaker, who will share his experience regarding the economic transformation of India.

The meeting will hold discussions on investment promotion, employment opportunities, energy crisis, labour flexibility, and entrepreneurship development, apart from a broader common economic vision of the private sector. The federation will also felicitate the best members for their outstanding contribution.

Similarly, FNCCI will organise the Nepal International Trade Fair (NITF) 2012 on April 5-9 at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu. It aims to bring a number of domestic and international industry and business enterprises under one roof, where customers, both local and international, can directly interact with them for better business opportunities and dealings.

Through its network across the nation, the federation will also assist in organising various regional and sector specific trade fairs.

The NITF 2012 will be organised in cooperation with the government. It will be the first of its kind in Nepal aiming at promoting international trade and enhancing the growth of Nepali exportable products, especially identified in the Nepal Trade Integration Strategy.
