First National Conference of Women Judges Commences Today

The inaugural session of the first national conference of women judges commenced today, with Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha set to inaugurate the event. Organized jointly by the National Judicial Academy Nepal and Judges' Society Nepal, the conference carries the theme "Promotion of Gender Equality in Judicial System: Our Commitment." Chair of Judges' Society Nepal and Supreme Court Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla emphasized its purpose to address issues and challenges faced by women judges while advancing their professional expertise.

Justice Malla highlighted that the conference aims to facilitate discussions on various pertinent topics, including enhancing the participation of women within the judiciary. Over the course of two days, separate sessions will delve into areas such as unity and network building, leadership development, empowerment, and fostering cooperation within the judicial community. The gathering seeks to foster an environment conducive to sharing ideas and experiences among participants.

Currently, Nepal boasts 43 women judges, with three holding positions as justices in the Supreme Court. The conference is set to attract women judges and officials from diverse backgrounds,
